With combined experience in academia and horsemanship, including over 25 years of professional experience training horses, Suzanne is a unique talent in the equine industry today. She is the founder of Next Level Horsemanship in Port Matilda, PA., a company steeped in the principles of natural and classical horsemanship. Suzanne trains all breeds of horses in a variety of disciplines from reining to dressage, and has extensive experience in colt starting, problem solving, and trick training. A former licensed exercise rider for the Thoroughbred industry, Suzanne is also well known for her work gentling and training wild Mustangs.
In 2008 Suzanne became the first woman to win the Midwest Mustang Challenge, Madison, WI, riding Jazz - a competition for which she had just 90 days to gentle and compete with her wild horse. Suzanne has developed the NLH Internship Program for students interested in becoming professionals in the equine industry. Many of her students work with wild Mustangs as part of their learning experience and have gone on to receive top 10 performances in subsequent Mustang Challenges. In 2009 her daughter Brooke (then age 9), won Reserve Grand Champion at the Extreme Mustang Makeover, Eastern Stampede, competition in Murfreesboro, TN. Suzanne and Brooke are also active in showing reining horses in NRHA sanctioned events.
Suzanne has a Doctorate Degree in Pathobiology, a Master's Degree in Veterinary Science, and a B.S. in Animal Production and has worked extensively in applied diagnostics and research with an emphasis on equine immunology and infectious diseases. Suzanne has published several peer-reviewed articles, is a contributing author for equine publications, and as a professional Clinician, presents educational seminars and training demonstrations at Clinics and Expos across the country.
