- Barrel Racer
Early in my life, I had a job at a livestock sales and feed yard and Priefert was always an honored name around the yard. The owner was a Texan and so we all followed his loyalty to his heritage and his pride in all things Texan, including his hats, boots and livestock equipment. As a rodeo contestant, I was familiar with the resources of Priefert roping and bucking chutes.
The Priefert name was always part of any conversation that had to do with arena equipment. Because working women in the rodeo and livestock industry are influential buyers, I approached Priefert for a sponsorship to help promote the brand in my horsemanship and barrel racing clinics. Every rider needs at least a round pen, and I thought it certainly should be a Priefert; also since many of the barrel racers husbands rope, I figured as influencing buyers, we could indirectly promote roping chutes and working equipment through the wives club!
After my first encounter with the Priefert Family through a Priefertization program, if I wasn't already sold on the brand, I left as a loyal disciple of the Priefert brand and product! I was overwhelmed with the legacy, family values and the Priefert's passion for quality and innovation, not to mention they are Ranchers making equipment for ranchers! They can talk the talk and walk the walk. I am honored to follow their lead!
First known as a 4-Time NFR Barrel Racing qualifier, Sharon Camarillo has become a respected Equestrian Clinician, Motivational Instructor, Performance Coach, Author, Designer, as well as a nationally recognized TV and Radio Commentator for the rodeo world.
"It has been written many times that I am an accomplished horsewoman. To that, I say that I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to study equestrian skills, establish relationships with industry professionals and have earned the respect of my friends and students that I have had the honor to mentor. My career has encompassed many facets of the western and equestrian world. My signature collections of saddles and tack under the Sharon Camarillo Collection have earned respect in the retail market place. In recognition of my multi-faceted career, the Western and English Manufacturer's Association presented me with their "Top Hand" award in 2005. The more opportunities I am exposed to, the more I understand our western industry and lifestyle, and the closer I can relate to those who are interested in following in my footsteps."
Two of the highlights of my rodeo career were the opportunity to compete with other national finalists at a Command Rodeo Performance for President Reagan and be a guest at the White House, and the chance to travel with a group of top riders selected by Wrangler to compete in an international rodeo in Argentina. Adding to her list of achievements, Sharon was inducted into the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in 1997 as the recipient of the prestigious "Tad Lucas Award"; in October of 2006, she was honored with induction into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame. Sharon exemplifies today's "contemporary western woman."
Priefert is proud to count Sharon as one of our outstanding endorsees.
